CLASS DOJO
I am using Class Dojo in our class to create a positive culture. Why Class Dojo? Class Dojo’s mission is to reinvent classrooms by bringing teachers, students and parents closer together. Teachers use Class Dojo as a communication platform to encourage students, and get parents engaged too. Classrooms become positive places - which means there's no more ‘classroom management’. Just happier classrooms :)
My students gain a Dojo point when they:
1) go the extra mile to help a student in need.
2) are the first or second to do what I ask.
3) are extra polite and respectful.
4) do amazingly good work.
My students lose a Dojo point when they:
1) interrupt me when I'm teaching.
2) are disrespectful to another student or adult.
3) cannot sit still or purposely keep another student from learning.
4) do not behave during lunch time or specials.
My expectations for my students:
1) Follow classroom and school-wide rules.
2) Work cooperatively with staff and other students.
3) Show up on time and be prepared for school.
4) Complete all assignments by their due dates.
5) Always try their best on all projects, tests, and assignments.
- School starts at 8:50 am. Any late arrivals must be walked into the office and signed in by a parent/guardian.
- Dismissal starts at 3:15 with the walkers being dismissed first. They exit out of Exit W and will be released only to an adult. After all walkers have been dismissed then the buses will begin to load. MES Dismissal Process Video.
- If your child will be absent, please call the Absentee Line at 708-342-4850.
- Most of the time homework will not be given ahead of time, homework may be sent home if your child is absent 3 days or more.
Specials:
- Learning Center, Music, & Art will be 1 time a week.
- Gym will be 3 times a week. Students must have non-marking white-soled shoes that will need to stay at school. If your child is wearing sandals on Gym day, please be sure to send them with a pair of socks.
Birthday Treats:
- Your child is allowed to pass out birthday party invitations at school only if everyone is included. By this I mean, there should be an invitation for either every child in the class OR all the boys OR all the girls.
- As a school district, we have to be proactive with regard to the health and well being of our entire student population. In order to promote healthier eating habits overall, to comply with recent legislation and to protect those students with food allergies, sensitivities, and medical conditions that require our and support, we have implementing a "non-edible birthday treat” policy throughout the district as of 2010.
- To make our birthdays a little more special – each child will get to decide how our class dresses for their special day. Some ideas your child may want to choose from are: wearing birthday person’s favorite color, sports day, pajama day, fancy day or wacky dress day. We will be writing down these special days in our assignment journal. Please check them daily.
Classroom Rules
